Should my child be doing Tassomai over the summer?

As the school year ends, many parents wonder whether their child should keep using Tassomai during the holidays. The short answer is: yes! While there are benefits to taking a break, there are also good reasons to keep up with those Daily Goals over the summer.

Person in front of a question mark

When students take a long break from the regular school routine it’s very common for them to lose some of their base knowledge and for their understanding of a subject to erode slightly. That erosion can make the return in September more of a challenge (for students and teachers alike) as lessons move forward but the foundations have weakened. This can dent confidence, waste valuable time, and ultimately affect outcomes.

Our recommendation? On most weeks (not all), completing Daily Goals on most days (not all) will be a huge benefit. This kind of light, habit-forming routine is helpful for all students, but particularly for those starting Year 11 in September.

That said, we know school can be tiring. Rest and holidays matter, and your child might feel they need a break from studying. In that case, consider agreeing a sensible middle ground. One of the great things about Tassomai is that it’s quick and easy to jump back in at any time. You might want to encourage your child to make the most of any long journeys by completing a few quizzes while they are travelling.

Another good reason to keep going: letting go completely and allowing knowledge to fade can cause more stress come September than a few short, regular Tassomai sessions every other day. Sustained, gentle practice helps everything stay familiar and manageable.

Consider also that lots of other students are doing nothing in the holidays and falling behind. Tassomai gives your child a massive opportunity to catch up, get ahead or stay ahead. When GCSEs come around, these little advantages gained by sustained, gentle, regular practice can make all the difference to their final grade.

Keeping an eye on progress

We’ll be pausing our weekly progress report emails over the summer holidays, but parents and guardians can log in to the Parent Dashboard at any time and see up to date stats on their learners’ progress.

If you’ve only ever logged in to your Parent Dashboard via the link in your weekly progress report you may need to set a password here using the email address your reports are sent to.
