3 new MFL vocabulary courses

Tassomai announce the launch of new MFL (Modern Foreign Language) courses covering the key vocabulary lists for Spanish, French and German. This exciting new addition applies Tassomai’s powerful retrieval practice approach to MFL vocabulary and  provides teachers with an easy and effective way to ensure students are learning key terms.

The new vocabulary courses include more than 6,000 multiple choice questions in total and they are suitable for learners in years 7 to 11 studying any of these 3 languages.

Who can access the new MFL vocab courses?

The MFL courses will be available to schools that use Tassomai this Autumn from the start of the 24/25 academic year. Teachers and school leaders that are interested in these vocabulary courses should register their school’s interest below. We will also be trialling the new material with a couple of schools over the Spring / Summer.

Tassomai’s private subscribing families are able to add the new courses from today via their Parent Dashboards. These new courses are included within the existing price plans for Y7/8 and Y9-11 students.

Families who get Tassomai through schools are also able to Boost their child’s account and add these additional subjects for a low-price monthly subscription.

About the new MFL courses

These courses have been developed in line with the new DfE prescribed vocabulary list to support learning across the Modern Foreign Languages.

This means our new Vocabulary content is applicable across all exam boards (it’s not board specific, but it has been structured and outlined by reference to the AQA specification). It is intended to strengthen knowledge of required and supplementary vocabulary in the relevant language.

The prescribed vocabulary has been selected based mostly on frequency of occurrence in the language.

Because no vocabulary list is specified at KS2 and KS3 level the list we have worked from assumes no prior learnt knowledge, meaning this course is suitable for beginners at below GCSE level.

  • No - both courses (the original 'grammar' course and the new 'vocab' course) will be available.

Account overseers with access to MFL will see both courses listed as options for their learners in the courses menu on their dashboards.

  • Parents of students in Y7-11 should see these new MFL course options within the Subscriptions section of their Parent Dashboard and be able to add them from there.

Note these will only be visible if you are signed up to our Y7-8 or Y9-11 packages.

  • Account overseers need to be members of our Parent Club which is for families that get Tassomai through a school. They should see the option to Boost their child’s account and add extra subjects (including the new MFL courses) for a low price monthly subscription.
