Introducing “Class Tasks”

Tassomai teachers can now set “Class Tasks” to help embed knowledge after teaching a topic or to direct intensive, impactful revision in a problem/intervention topic.

Lots of teachers have told us they’d like the ability to set homework on specific topics at the whole class level and this is something our product team has been working on in recent months.

We’re excited to announce that this functionality is now available on the Tassomai Teacher Dashboard through the new Class Tasks feature!

Class Tasks enables Tassomai teachers to:

  • Set a task once a week for each of their forms

  • Choose a deadline up to 14 days ahead

  • View real-time statistics on how their students have performed

A “Class Task” will consist of a summative quiz where the student is directed initially to a  resource - usually a short video or BBC Bitesize page - before taking a new-style Tassomai quiz related to the content they’ve viewed.

Learners will be shown the Class Task as a priority quiz in the appropriate discipline and will have until the deadline to complete it.

Teachers can view individual and class progress via their dashboards to see how learners have performed and improved in the chosen topic as shown in the screenshots below.

Here’s Murray Morrison introducing Class Tasks, walking through the feature and how it can help teachers and students:

FAQs

Q: How many Class Tasks will learners have if a school uses Tassomai for multiple subjects?

A: Each Tassomai teacher can set one Class Task per week, so the amount of Class Tasks a student has will depend on how many active forms they’re in.

Q. When does the week run from?

A: Monday to Sunday

Q: Are Class Tasks similar to Leapfrog Sessions?

A: Yes, the quiz format used in Class Tasks is similar to the one used for Leapfrog Sessions, but with Class Tasks the teacher decides what topic to focus on. With Leapfrog Sessions, the topic for the individual student is one that Tassomai’s algorithm has chosen.

Q: What’s different about the format of a Class Tasks quiz?

A: Class Tasks contain learning resources (BBC Bitesize pages or Tassomai tutorial videos) followed by an end-of-session summative quiz, which makes sure that each student really embeds what they’ve just covered, with feedback and repetition. Unlike a standard Tassomai quiz, students will get a number of retries.

Q: Where on my Teacher Dashboard can I find Class Tasks?

A: Go into your individual classes and you’ll see “Class Tasks” appear as a menu item in the horizontal navigation.

Q: Can teacher cancel a Class Task once it’s been set?

A: Yes, teachers can cancel an incomplete Class Task, but any learners who have already done some or all of the quiz will keep any points they have gained. Teachers will not be able to view a report of a cancelled Class Task.

Q: What format will I receive the reporting in?

A: You’ll find the reports on your Teacher Dashboard in the Class Tasks tab as soon as the task is set. They will gradually populate with results as students complete the task.
