Tassomai review: does it work and is it worth it?

Tassomai works best as a short daily quiz habit, about 10 to 15 minutes a day, that keeps GCSE knowledge fresh across science, maths, English and more. For years 9 to 11 a family subscription costs £44.99 a month, about £1.48 a day, and includes every subject for your child’s year group. There’s a 7-day free trial and you can cancel at any time. It won’t teach exam technique or mark long written answers, so it works best alongside past papers.

Our son got a 7 in Science! He is thrilled so are we. He did work hard but he was only predicted by the school to get a 6, and in his mock exams in December at the end of last year a 6 was not looking likely, he got 5s. He never managed to complete the whole Tassomai course but the way the revision is staggered for the different papers meant he could maintain focus and at least be sure he'd covered a reasonable percentage of the relevant syllabus before each exam. As a parent it was great to see he was making progress and because it was all computer based he was happy to use it.

It was worth every penny in the subscription, I cannot recommend this product highly enough.

He himself has told his younger brother that Tassomai is brilliant but you need to start on it earlier than he did. He only began using it in February the year of the exam and honestly didn't really get to grips with it until a couple of months before the exam. We think he could definitely have got at least an 8 if he'd started earlier. I should add here he's severely dyslexic too but the Tassomai system is very user friendly for dyslexics, you can take everything at your own pace and there's a real clarity in the layout and set up and the fact it's all IT based really helps.

How much does Tassomai cost?

Getting Tassomai free through school

If your child’s school uses Tassomai, your child already has access at no cost. Parents can add extras through Parent Club: Extra Subjects (£2.99 a month), Mai Unlimited (£3.99 a month) and Leapfrog Sessions (£2.99 a month).

How the grade guarantee works

For GCSE courses we offer a grade guarantee. If your child completes 100% of a designated course and doesn’t get a 7, 8 or 9 in that subject, we’ll refund the fee paid for that course. The conditions are:

The course must be completed in full, by your child alone, without help from other people or AI tools.
The exam must be graded 9 to 1. Foundation tier papers don’t qualify.
You need to email us within 48 hours of results day, then send the results certificate countersigned by the exam centre within 14 days.

Completing a whole course takes steady work, so it’s unlikely if your child starts after Easter of year 11. Full details are in clause 6 of our terms and conditions.

This compares students who chose to use Tassomai a lot with everyone else, so it shows a link rather than proof, and it uses the old grades.

Most recent Trustpilot reviews come from students whose school sets Tassomai as homework, so many of them are reviewing compulsory homework as much as the app. Their most common complaints are repetitive questions and goals that grow after missed days. Both are real, and we cover them below.

Starting in year 11 still helps, especially in the autumn. The earlier your child starts, the more of the course they can complete before their exams. To claim the grade guarantee they need to finish 100% of the course, which is unlikely if they start after Easter.
