Research Lead

Why Tassomai?

Tassomai’s vision is to be an indispensable education tool for everyone. Our current focus is to support teaching and learning in secondary science by making sure students learn in a more efficient and effective way, and by giving schools, teachers and parents the tools to help.  We want to ‘level the playing field’ for those students without access to private tuition.

Over the next three years, Tassomai is focussing heavily on extending and improving our product, as well as several new product developments. We consider ourselves an education-first organisation, and we want to put research at the heart of all aspects of our business.

As our research lead, you would play a key role in shaping the development of a product which is already helping students, teachers and parents and helping make it into one that can have maximum education impact for our users. You would be part of an exciting startup putting data and learning at the fore of its development and communication. You would have the opportunity through your work to help many thousands of students, teachers and families, and reflecting to us the impact of our work and helping us to continually improve on what we do.

What’s the challenge?

At Tassomai we have an ambitious vision for how the education system can be improved with edtech. We seek to continuously examine the degree to which our users benefit from their activity on the site and find ways to improve the impact for them. We seek to innovate in the ways we can support of teaching and learning, so with each new development under consideration we would wish to draw on existing research and to make sure we gather the necessary evidence to develop the right tools in the right way.

You would be managing the research efforts of a junior team who split their time between creating content and running research projects; you would work alongside a data analyst and you will be collaborating at times with developers, product designers, customer-facing teams and educationalists.

You’ll also join at the start of an exciting period of growth over the coming years. We currently operate as a single cross-functional product team and think of Tassomai as a single product. Next year we’re expecting to split into multiple teams, each with a tighter focus on a segment of users and associated product, as well as starting work on two new products. You would have an influence on how these different teams set up and design their products to ensure success for users and the business.
